Brand Color Part 4: Is Your Color Yellow?

If your brand attributes communicate energy, joy, or happiness – yellow is the color for you. With shades ranging from a light lemon to a deep mustard, yellow is an energizing color that can ignite joy or evoke caution. According to Empower Yourself With Color Psychology, “Yellow is a warm and happy color which creates a sense of cheerfulness and playfulness.” The complementary color is purple. When Not to Use Yellow: Avoid overuse of the color yellow. Too much of the vibrant hue can cause anxiety, even agitation. Have you ever encountered a person who is so cheerful and exuberant that they almost evoke an opposite reaction from you? This is true for the cheery color yellow, too.

Shades of Yellow:

Bright yellow is associated with intellect, energy, and joy.
Dull yellow represents caution, sickness, and jealousy.
